Went to Smith & Hsu, a famous English afternoon joint in Taiwan. A bit pricey, but the sandwiches were probably the best “western” food I have ever had in Taiwan. It’s a bold statement, but it’s absolutely true.
they first present you with a wide selection of tea. sniff around and pick one.
Assam milk tea. Creamy but not too sweet.
tuna sandwich, scone, cookie, tea jelly, and spread. The sandwich and the scone were exceptional.
Mozzarella and bacon sandwich. Bread was nicely toasted and the cheese was perfectly melted. Seriously good.
Chicken leg fruit salad. Very little but the chicken was juicy and tender.
Switching gear here, went to the fried/grilled chicken stand for a late night snack. It might look yucky to you, but it’s F*king delicious.
