Food Porn- Pho

11 Jul

A consecutive Food Porn post. I haven’t been adventuring in cooking this week, but I did go to this famous pho place in Taipei. Some people call this place “the best pho in Taiwan”. What did I think of it? You will find out after these pictures!

Waited for an hour to get into this place.

menu- a wide beverage selection

bean sprouts, basil, and a wedge of lemon for your noodles.

Vietnamese spring roll- different than ones that I’ve had in NY, the filling tasted very mushroomy

And here it is, pho. I got brisket, tendons, and rare beef with my nooders.

my new love- lemon sugarcane juice. This place was pricey but after my visit I bought raw sugarcane juice and added lemon and ice on my own and it’s like ridiculously good and refreshing and like seriously my favorite drink ever now and totally delicious and ok shutting up now.

Vietnamese summer roll- light as you can imagine. The peanut sauce was pretty good.

So what did I think of “the best pho” in Taiwan?

So so! Pho Grand in NY is much better for my taste. Not to mention that I was ridiculously thirsty for the rest of the night (hello, MSG). I just don’t get all the hype people made it out to be. It was trendy, for sure, but the hour-wait, so-so service, overpriced menu, and the so-so food just didn’t do it for me.

I am a brat, I know. I am used to the delicious pho in NY… anyhow, at least the pictures look good, right!
